Bulkheads
A very popular method to help protect against erosion is the wooden bulkhead.  This structure combines the durability, strength and visually pleasing nature of treated wood.  New to the market is the vinyl or “plastic” bulkhead.  This material is impervious to marine borers and does not rot.  It is UV resistant and warranted for 50 years.  Gillmore Marine has installed thousands of feet of wooden bulkheads and, to date, has had more experience with vinyl than any other contractor on Cape Cod.

Stone Revetments
The use of large stone for protection against erosion has been effective for a number of years.  The development of filter cloth helps to make stone revetments even more effective and longer lasting.  Whether it is an area subject to waves and shoreline erosion or just a retaining wall in your back yard, Gillmore Marine has the equipment and know-how to give you what you need.

  Docks/Pier Construction
Pier construction continues to be the mainstay for Gillmore Marine.  Since our inception, we have geared our equipment and personnel toward servicing all sizes of piers (seasonal docks to permanent piling piers), in all different locations (from bays and harbors to shoal backwaters and even fresh water ponds and lakes).  All materials are chosen for their durability in the tough marine environment.  And because of our years of experience, we retain an excellent working relationship with all local Conservation Agents, a real plus in today’s tough regulatory standards.  In addition, Gillmore Marine can also take care of your seasonal dock and will store your float over the winter months.  Service remains the key to our success.

  Dredging
With our crane barge “Samson” and small deck scows, Gillmore Marine is a leader in the field of private dredging projects.  While permitting still remains a daunting task, there are some instances where dredging is allowed and, in fact, preferred by the various agencies.  With the recent addition of a hydraulic excavator, dredging is now more efficient and affordable.
